I’M RUNNING MY FIRST HALF-MARATHONS THIS YEAR!
AH & EK!
I finally registered for both the 13.1 Atlanta half and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah 1/2 & full.
My first half-marathon ever will be October 7, 2012 in Atlanta. I’ll be running with my good friend Brittney (she and I ran in the Savannah River Bridge Run). She’s already completed a half and she convinced me to sign up. I am stoked. I knew I wanted to run the one in November, but challenging myself to run 2 in two months sounded awesome. I’m not scared. I’m not worried. I am pumped!
This year is the second running of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah and I wanted to run in it last year, but was no where near close to actually running the whole thing. This year though I’m taking it on! My training will start in March and I’m going to be really careful not to overdo it. I want to take this seriously and cautiously. No injuries since I’m the queen of those.
The thought of these races makes me smile. I’m so giddy. The vision of crossing those finish lines is what gets me going. I run with passion again, the goal in mind is pretty huge.
I just can’t wait! I’ve been waiting to do this post, like I’ve had it saved for a while and had to wait until I seriously thought it all through. Then I woman-ed up and registered.
There are going to many posts about my training and about my journey. I’m sure there will be countless tears of joy and pain, but also smiles for miles.
When was your first half marathon? What emotions were you feeling when you first signed up for it and the race really hit you?
